‘Child Friendly Guwahati’ is a project under Snehalaya in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Guwahati, Church bodies of Guwahati, like-minded NGOs, State Government allied departments and other Civil Society groups of Guwahati, to create a movement in the city of Guwahati to champion the cause of its less privileged children, especially those who have dropped out of school or children never been to school. It visualizes to reach out to over 10,000 out of school children in the city, to mainstream them back into formal or vocational schools, and make every citizen of the city a friend to every child in need of Care and Protection.

“We shall be happiest persons when we make a poor child someone great in society. We, all are called to serve and not to be served”

Snehalaya is committed to work for the noble cause that is taking care of poorest of the poor children who really need of love, care and protection. Today, Snehalaya is fully committed to build the future of about 4500 children, both in residential and non residential programs. There are 5 residential homes with about 200 children both boys and girls age group of 6 – 18 and 4300 in non residential programs including after care and vocational training for the underprivileged youth of Guwahati city. When I look back, I can see that Snehalaya has done a marvellous work by taking the children from the streets and making them to stand on their own feet.

Snehalaya has multi-skilled and dedicated team members who have been committed for this noble cause by their hard work, commitment, dedication, and creating a big, loving family atmosphere where every child feels at home and grows happily and gracefully. I appreciate and grateful for their selfless sacrifice. I do acknowledge gratefully the support received from our donors, friends, benefactors and well Wishers, many other friends and individuals who have been really committed to support Snehalaya. I believe that the Almighty God will bless them for their generosity. For Snehalaya, every day is a new day indeed and happy to grow day by day to be a model for the society of today. “The noblest task in this world is to accompany someone in life,” said Mahatma Gandhi.
